Red Daisy *Card Purse

So the Red Daisy *Card Purse didn’t start out as a daisy purse. I had an email from an old school friend asking if I would be able to make a purse with a dancer on it. She had in mind a red purse with a couple or a girl jiving on the side as a gift for a close friend.

Not usually shy to try new things I had to have a think about this – a LONG time… I researched the www.google.uk images, web search and even shopping page for any ideas on how to crochet motifs of dancers till my fingers were blue.

I found an image of a jewelled “stick on motif” but the motif was too large for the purse and only available for purchase in USA , but I thought Id be able to reproduce the image using beads. I tried. I really tried hard! The problem with this was that adding beads to a crocheted surface is not conducive for fine lines and fine details. The dancers landed up looking like a mass of beads when the fabric moved, the crochet surface just too uneven for little beads.

Feeling defeated I asked my friend about some other design, perhaps her friend had other interests that would suite? She asked me for a flower. The daisy was first on my mind when I saw a photo of her friend. She loved the daisy when I showed her the WIP and felt it would be perfect for her friend.

And so here it is – the finished article:-

Thanks for popping by!
